Amy Cherry

Amy Cherry

Director

Amy Cherry began her career at the Battle Creek Outdoor Education Center in 1986 as an Instructor Counselor in the School Camp Program. In the spring of 1987 she transferred to the Farm Garden Program and spent the following 23 years there. She became the OEC Director in July, 2010. Amy holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Cincinnati and a Master’s degree in Outdoor Teacher Education from Northern Illinois University. She is a graduate of the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS), is a Licensed Brain Gym® Practitioner, and is a Wilderness First Responder. Born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, she enjoys reading, swimming, walking with Max, the family corgi, and watching movies with her family; husband, Jason and their two sons, Alex and Marshall.

Christianne Statler

Office Manager and Health Officer
Christianne Statler is our new Office Manager and Health Officer.  She is the former Coordinator of the Hastings Community Music School.  She brings to the OEC office managing skills and fund raising experience. Christianne was a certified nurse assistant and has her wilderness first aid training. Christianne has three children: Justin, Megan & Bethany. She loves gardening, wood working and all kinds of music. 
 
 
Kellie Donajkowski

Kellie Donajkowski

Program Coordinator

Kellie Donajkowski started at the OEC in the summer of 2017. Born and raised in Michigan, she attended the University of Michigan and obtained a Bachelor's degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and a Masters of Science at the School of Natural Resources and Environment with an emphasis on Behavior, Education and Communication.  After graduating, she moved to Texas to work at a residential school program for two years where she taught outdoor and adventure courses.  This was followed by a two-year stint as a Education Specialist in Kansas City where she taught science environmental classes to school groups around the area.  When she is not working, she spends time reading and knitting, as well as hiking and exploring with friends.

Matthew Santner

Matthew Santner

Events & Day Program Coordinator

Matthew Santner began working at Clear Lake Camp in the fall of 2009 as an instructor and became Coordinator in spring 2012. Matthew graduated from Beloit College, Beloit, Wisconsin with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Geology. Previously, Matthew has taught outdoor education in Rhode Island and Illinois. During the summers, Matthew has directed the nature program at a boys camp in northern Wisconsin. When not teaching outdoor education, Matthew runs far.
